The Innovation Realised Global Summit is a peer-to-peer event held by Ernst & Young, designed in every detail to disrupt conventional thinking and ignite new ideas. The 2024 summit, took place at The Palace of Fine Arts in San Fransisco in mid April and was attended by an exclusive community of C-suite and senior business leaders, seeking to forge new connections and collaborate with like-minded peers.

Puncture Design’s work for the event was two part, to design the overall look and feel for the summit and to map out and design the Rethink Zone, a space where attendees are invited to rethink their perceptions across a range of industries.

A major theme explored at the event was how rethinking your surroundings can provide clarity in a world of complexity. When developing the identity for the summit this theme was explored visually with a cloud of images and colour that in its most complex state, included a plethora of layered moving elements. When certain areas of the cloud were focussed on, the identity system was able to visually explore different topics relevant to the summit, moving to a state of clarity. This approach was used throughout the event to introduce speakers and session topics.

Puncture’s task for the Rethink Zone was to create 8 spaces, which were further split up into 2 or 3 areas each having a screen. Puncture developed a system of shapes and colour for each space inspired by the angularity of the EY brand. The spaces were designed to allow for 10 people to move freely throughout the area at any given time. Neon tubes and coloured columns were used to further delineate between the areas and invite attendees in without restricting the movement within each zone. The use of imagery and colour added to the multi-sensory nature of the event encouraging creative conversations and disrupting business-as-usual thinking.
